Why the client portal should be default, not a premium add-on

The problem it solves

Every agency recruiter spends between 1.5 and 3 hours a week per client preparing and sending progress reports. For an agency with 6 active clients, that is 9 to 18 hours a week, a quarter to half of a recruiter's working time, spent communicating what already exists in the system.

The client portal removes that time. The client accesses the status of their roles directly, in real time, without asking anyone for anything.

Why others charge for it separately

Platforms like Greenhouse, Lever or Workday have a specific business logic: maximise ARPU through add-on modules. "Client Visibility" is sold as an upgrade because their model requires capturing value at every functional layer. That makes sense for enterprise with $50,000+ annual HR-tech budgets. It does not make sense for a boutique agency.

Our bet

At Klyver we decided from the start that the client portal is not a premium feature, it is part of the fundamental proposition. The most basic plan ($89/month) includes a client portal with unlimited reader access. No extra seat.

The commercial argument

When an agency shows the portal to a prospect live, "this is how you will see the status of your roles in real time, no reports," the sales conversation changes. You are not selling generic recruiting. You are selling transparency and control, which are scarce assets in the market.

Agencies that use the portal report higher renewal rates and more referrals. Not because the recruiting is better, but because the client experience is qualitatively different.

The real cost of not having it

If your agency has no portal today, you are absorbing that cost in reporting hours, follow-up calls and emails that interrupt real work. The question is not whether the portal costs something, it is whether you would rather pay for it in your team's time or in software.
